The Advanced Filter allows you to make a filter optional in a boolean search. To use the advanced filter option, first add all desired filters and then type it in as a formula. For example, if you have 3 filters selected (date, practice group 1, practice group 2), and you wanted any matter created on a particular date that is from a either practice group, you could write the advanced filter as 1 and (2 or 3).
