To disable the status report requirement at the matter type template level, go to the Settings, then click on the Matter Types (Templates) & Matter Setup under Matters Setup section. Click the hyperlinked Matter Type Template name to edit. Under the Setup Options section / Status Reporting Default Options find the "Status Reports - Required of Lead Entity" selection. Select the 'No' radio button, then click Save & Close.
