Deleting a matter is restricted in a number of ways. Only Tracker Coordinator or Backup Tracker Coordinator can delete matters. When a matter is deleted, all of the data in a matter is permanently deleted, including invoices, invoice attachments, documents, status reports, etc. There is no ability to recover the matter data.
To delete a matter follow the steps below:
1. Mouse over the Navigation Panel click Matters then Matter List, click a matter name to access the matter profile.
2. Click the Ellipsis Icon, click Delete. A confirmation dialog box appears.
3. To confirm the matter deletion, click OK. A final warning dialog box appears.
4. To confirm the permanent matter deletion, click OK.
A matter cannot be deleted if any of the following conditions exist:
1. There are any internal time entries/allocations for the matter (only applicable to companies that have turned on the time entry module).
2. One or more live invoices have been posted to the matter. If an invoice has been posted but has not yet begun the approval process, the law firm can delete the invoice, and then the matter can be deleted. Note: This means that a matter cannot be deleted if any invoice, pending or not, has been posted to the matter.
3. The law firm has attempted to post an invoice, but the invoice status is "Delivery on Hold."
4. Any budget (Company, Law Firm, or Department) has been posted to the matter for the prior, current, or a future fiscal year.
5. The matter is a matter group with at least one matter member. 6. Any service-of-process document type is auto-routed to that matter.
7. The matter was created by Legal Tracker for our billing purposes.
