If you plan to leave the firm as a participant on the matter, then the only option to keep notifications from going out is to use Matter Upload. Matter Upload, if configured to do so, can allow you to choose if firm or company users will receive notices for closed matters. If you are trying to close a single matter from within the matter itself, there is no way to keep the firm from getting notice about the matter being closed. However, if you remove the firm as a matter participant they will not get a notice but, for record keeping/reporting purposes, you may want to keep them on the matter.
