Require those accounting codes that you never want to be left blank. If you have a System Role of Company System Administrator, click the System Setup link (the gear icon in the top-right), and click Accounting Code Setup. Check the Required box next to any accounting codes that you would like to require. Note: the accounting code label must also be marked Active.

- Mouse over the Navigation Panel
- Click Settings
- Under Accounting & A/P Settings click Accounting Code Setup
